I bought a pair of these sometime around 1997, give or take. Since then we’ve done 1000s of miles of bike trips and 100s of miles of backpacking together.
Especially useful for long distance cycle touring, for those times you need to put the bike on a bus or a boat, or park the bike downstairs in the lockup room at a hotel – it pops right off, without taking anything out, and turns into a backpack in a few buckles of straps. The shape leaves a perfect space for sleeping pad / bag / tent on the sides of the center bag. And the design of 3 separate compartments which all open fully make it easy to keep organized and find what you are looking for.
Its been a quarter century, and its still holding up – other than the detachable shoulder strap pads, but thats because I left them in my mom’s shed while using the bag in backpack mode and rats decided they might be tasty.
Contacted the company to see if I could buy a replacement and they offered to replace them for the price of shipping, even though the damage was in no way a product defect!
